Still these tried and true kitchen layouts still apply to today s lifestyles with modifications. In essence the ideal work triangle layout is to have the primary and most used appliances e g fridge range sink at corner points of a triangular workspace for maximum efficiency. Cabinets and appliances are fixed on a single wall.

With a very limited floor area available adapting an open layout for the kitchen dining and living areas is the most ideal arrangement.
